"Balance is the key to everything. What we do, think, say, eat, feel, they all require awareness and through this awareness, we can grow." - Koi Fresco
Do you ever feel out of balance? In the Wheel of Life, how do you find balance? If you are busy with work, your home life seems to take the back seat of your focus. You may be having a blast on vacation, but in the back of your mind, you are worried about your finances. You've never looked better and felt healthier, but your love life is nonexistent.
Life is complicated! Who hasn't thought, "I need a better work-life balance!" It would be fantastic if we only need to focus on one area of our lives to living our best life. The reality is that to be fully in control of our lives; we need to distribute our attention. Life is like a wheel. Each tire spoke has to be the same length to allow the tire to roll smoothly. Think of each area of your life as a tire spoke. When we neglect one area (tire spoke) out, life doesn't move smoothly. If we focus on a couple of areas of life yet, disregard other areas, our life will get pretty bumpy.
The goal is to give equal attention and balance to every area of the Wheel of Life.
There are 7-8 significant parts to the wheel of life.
Career
Finance
Health
Mental Attitude and/or Spirituality
Intimate Relationships
Family & Friends
Social Life
Personal Growth
Each one of us has different areas that we feel secure in and struggle with other ones. I put a lot of awareness to my Mental Attitude and Spirituality, but I don't spend as much time on Contributions to the community. It takes living intentionally to achieve a FULLY BALANCED LIFE. It is when we're not giving attention to all the aspects of our lives when we feel off balance. Being aware of how we are living our lives, where we spend our time, and where we put our energy is the key to becoming well rounded. The less aware we are, the more out of balance we become.
Personal growth comes through intentionally living and choosing how we live our life. When we just go from day-to-day, year-to-year without reflecting on who we are becoming is when life happens to us. To grow is too mature and develop better life skills so that we can become our best selves.
Take a look at the chart below and fill in each piece to see where you are adequate and where you need to spend more time. This will give you insight into what areas need more attention.
Rate each life area on a scale of 1-10. One being very low attention. Ten being the highest effort made.
